AddSecure Announces Collaboration with BT Redcare for Continuous Service

Jul 4, 2024

What is BT Redcare?

BT Redcare is an alarm solution that runs on a standard analogue BT phone line. It works by sending an alert to the property owner and/or the police if an alarm is triggered. A lot of property insurance policies, particularly those covering commercial properties, require the installation of an approved alarm system as a condition for coverage.

AddSecure collaboration with BT Redcare – what you need to know

AddSecure, a leading European provider of alarm signalling, has announced it’s teaming up with BT Redcare to continue its Next Generation fire and security alarm signalling services in the UK. This partnership will ensure that BT Redcare customers’ services will remain uninterrupted following BT Redcare’s plans to cease operations from August 2025.

This agreement will enable AddSecure to enter the UK market with its All IP-based solutions, ensuring connectivity through both fibre and 4G networks.

BT and AddSecure’s collaboration aims to ensure a seamless transition for customers who choose to move over to AddSecure. They plan to prioritise the transition from legacy alarm platforms to digital ones, offering customers high-quality service and support throughout the process.

Wim Harthoorn, Director of Sales for Smart Alarms at AddSecure, said:
“Our team is committed to ensuring a seamless transition while upholding the same level of excellence that BT Redcare customers have come to expect. This means that existing services will continue without interruption, requiring no action from customers. Installed BT Redcare alarm signalling units will continue to function as usual. Our long-standing experience in this field, combined with our focus on security, reliability, and customer satisfaction, positions us well to meet the needs of the UK market.”

Simon Warner, Director of UK Portfolio Businesses, BT, said:
“We are pleased to have secured this agreement with AddSecure, so UK alarm installers can continue to benefit from next-generation technology, alarm equipment and services even after BT Redcare closes in August 2025. We are now focused on supporting our existing customers to ensure a smooth transition.”

What does this mean for your insurance?

This is good news in terms of the impact to your insurance.

As this is a like-for-like replacement solution that is Grade 4 British and European Standards for fire alarm signalling, your cover will continue as normal if you choose to move over from BT Redcare to AddSecure. If not, you will still need to find a like-for-like replacement.

Remember to check your new suppliers’ credentials if you do not make the move – standard alarm signalling services must be installed by firms that are regulated by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) or the Security Systems and Alarm Inspection Board (SSAIB). They must also be annually maintained to standards set out by the NSI or the SSAIB. You may need to show evidence of this maintenance agreement in the event of a claim.
